Female Condoms Are_______ Film Contest
Earlier this year, we asked filmmakers from around the world to submit their powerful and creative stories about female condoms. After reviewing dozens of films from five continents—and narrowing the entries to 12 finalists—our incredible judging panel has made its choices. These winners were announced and screened at the Female Condoms Are_______ Film Festival on May 28, 2013, at the Women Deliver 2013 conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Thank you to everyone who entered, and congratulations to the winners!

Submitted by: Doh Marceline Kahndi and the Community Human Rights and Advocacy Center

Mangie, the wife of Tangie, no longer wants children but needs satisfaction from her husband. After a long sensitization from Pa Muluh, Tangie now realizes that the female condom is preferable.
TIE: Third place (US$500)—Female Condoms Are a Woman’s Bargaining Power
Submitted by: Karel Blondeel
Description: This film shows three Kenyan women from the reproductive health drop-in center in Kisauni, Mombasa. They are big fans of the female condom; they tell us why and show us how to use it. One of the big advantages in using the female condom is the bargaining power it gives to women. They “own the female condom” and it “gives them the upper hand in sex,” which will contribute in getting to zero new infections of HIV.

Submitted by: Alan Ting Judson, Tan Xin Tian, and Tang Ming Ting
Description: In this film about life’s pleasures—including sex—a young couple explores its options for protection, and finds that female condoms have a lot to offer.
