Results from two ground-breaking studies on diarrheal disease and a new rotavirus vaccine were released today. One confirmed rotavirus as the leading cause of moderate-to-severe diarrhea in infants in the developing world and the other proved that a new rotavirus vaccine developed in India is safe and efficacious. Both attest to the fact that accelerating access to existing rotavirus vaccines and supporting new vaccine development will save children’s lives.
